Alving Mejias fired six scoreless innings, giving up just three hits to help the Rockies win 7-2 on Wednesday evening at Suplizio Field.
Grand Junction got the scoring started in the first inning on a RBI single by Ben Waldrip. Waldrip finished 4-for-4 In last night's game and continued his scorching hot streak at the plate when he blasted a 2-run home run in the 3rd inning off of Jairo Diaz.
Diaz drew the start for the Owlz, surrendering seven runs, six earned in 5.1 innings of work. Diaz allowed 12 hits, four of which were infield singles.
The Rockies got two more runs in the 4th and 6th innings, which turned out to plenty of run support for Mejias and the rest of the bullpen.
The Owlz got two runs in the 8th on a 2-run home run by Wade Hinkle. Hinkle now has six home runs and holds the Pioneer League lead in that category.
Orem will now head to Ogden to take on the Raptors for two games, before returning home to play Idaho Falls for three games. Both of the games in Ogden can be heard online at audio.oremowlz.com at 7 p.m.
