
Former Kernels Trout, Trumbo and Napoli Selected to MLB All-Star Game

Cedar Rapids, IA - Three former Cedar Rapids Kernels: OF Mike Trout, OF Mark Trumbo and C Mike Napoli have been selected to the American League squad for the 83rd Major League All-Star Game, hosted by the Kansas City Royals on Tuesday, July 10th.
Mike Napoli played for the Kernels in 2001 and 2002 and was voted as the starting catcher for the American League. He is hitting .235 with 12 HR and 35 RBI in 69 games for the Texas Rangers.
Mike Trout played for the Kernels in 2010 and is making his first All-Star appearance as a reserve. He is batting .339 with nine HR, 33 RBI and 22 stolen bases for the Angels in 57 games and is currently leading the American League in BA (.339) and stolen bases (22).
Mark Trumbo played for the Kernels in 2006 and 2007 and is also making his first All-Star appearance as a reserve. He is batting .312 with 20 HR and 55 RBI in 70 games for the Angels. He is currently eighth in the American League in BA (.312).
The 83rd Major League All-Star Game will be televised nationally by FOX Sports, in Canada by Rogers Sportsnet and RDS, and worldwide by partners in more than 200 countries via MLB International's independent feed. Pregame ceremonies begin at 7:30 p.m. ET. ESPN Radio and ESPN Radio Deportes will provide exclusive national radio coverage. MLB Network, MLB.com and Sirius XM also will provide comprehensive All-Star Game coverage.
The Kernels are in the midst of a six game road trip with games tonight and tomorrow at Beloit with both games starting at 7:00 pm. They return to Perfect Game Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium on Wednesday, July 4th at 5:05 pm and begin a six game home stand with games against Wisconsin and Peoria.
