Northwest Arkansas Naturals News Release

SPRINGDALE, AR - The Naturals' parent club, the Kansas City Royals announced a pair of transactions on Monday affecting the Northwest Arkansas Naturals roster. Starting pitcher and Texas League All-Star Justin Marks has been placed on the seven-day disabled list. Relief pitcher Nick Rogers has been transferred from Class-A Advanced Wilmington to take Marks place on the roster.

Marks went 3-4 with a 3.86 ERA for the Naturals this season, while starting 14 games. The left-hander ranked second on the team in innings pitched with 72.1 and in strikeouts with 60 at the time of his injury. Marks was acquired by the Royals along with RHP Vin Mazzaro in exchange for David Dejesus, following the 2010 season.

Rogers has spent the entire season with Class-A Advanced Wilmington. The right-hander has gone 2-3 with a 2.17 ERA in 21 games for the Blue Rocks. Rogers has converted eight of his nine save opportunities and did not allow a run until May 11 (11.0 innings). He was signed as an undrafted free agent in June of 2010 out of North Carolina A&T.

Rogers will wear number 25 for the Naturals. Following the transactions the Naturals' roster is now at the Texas League's limit of 25 players.

The Northwest Arkansas Naturals are the Double-A Texas League affiliate of the Kansas City Royals and play at state-of-the-art Arvest Ballpark, located in Springdale. Visit our website, nwanaturals.com, for information on season tickets and ticket plans.
