Mike Winther Drafted by the Dallas Stars

Prince Albert SK - Prince Albert Raider forward Mike Winther has been drafted by the Dallas Stars in the 2nd round, 54th overall, at 2012 National Hockey League Entry Draft in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

The Trochu, Alberta, native had a breakout season with the Green and Gold, scoring 32 goals and adding 24 assists for 56 points. Winther led all Western Hockey League draft eligible players in power play goals, with 16, and shorthanded goals, with 4.

The Raiders 6th overall selection in the 2009 WHL Bantam Draft earned himself a spot in the Canadian Hockey League Top Prospects Game, where he set up Team Cherry's only goal. Following the end of the Raiders season, Winther represented Canada at the World Under-18 Championships in the Czech Republic, picking up a goal and an assist as Canada brought home a Bronze medal.
