Seattle Thunderbirds News Release

Seattle Thunderbirds right wing Branden Troock was selected by the Dallas Stars in the 5th round, 134th overall, at the 2012 NHL Entry Draft Saturday afternoon at the CONSOL Energy Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Troock, from Edmonton, Alberta, just finished his first season with the T-Birds. He appeared in 58 games this season and had 14 goals and 12 assists for 26 points with 89 penalty minutes.

Troock was ranked number 65 by NHL Central Scouting in their Final Rankings of players in their first year of eligibility for the 2012 NHL Draft. In the Final Rankings he moved up 25 spots from the Central Scouting Mid-Term Rankings.

"It is great to see Branden drafted," said T-Birds general manager Russ Farwell from the Draft. "I believe he will prove his potential and talent to be on par with players taken much earlier."

Troock was a member of Team Canada at the Under-18 World Championships in Brno and Znojmo, Czech Republic, from April 12 to April 22. Troock appeared in all seven of Canada's games. He registered an assist and had 10 penalty minutes as Team Canada won a bronze medal at the tournament.

The T-Birds full 2012-13 regular season schedule will be released on Wednesday, June 27.

T-Birds season tickets are currently on sale. Group tickets can be purchased by calling the T-Birds office at 253-239-7825.
