Bowling Green Hot Rods News Release

Dayton, OH - Josh Sale hit his eighth home run of the season, but the Bowling Green Hot Rods (34-29) fell to the Dayton Dragons (26-37) 6-1 on Sunday afternoon at Fifth Third Field. The loss in the middle game of the three-game set brings an end to the Hot Rods three-game winning streak and sets up a rubber match on Monday in Dayton.

The lone Hot Rods run crossed the plate in the form of a Josh Sale home run in the top of the sixth inning. The longball was Sale's eighth homer of the season and his first since June 1 against Lansing at Bowling Green Ballpark. Sale also added another base hit later in the game, and Jake Hager, Jeff Malm, and Drew Vettleson also had multi-hit days. The Hot Rods slugged ten hits but stranded 12 men on the bases in the loss.

Dayton's offense continually pestered Hot Rods pitching on Sunday afternoon, scoring in four straight frames from the fourth through the seventh innings. Parker Markel received his second loss to the Dragons in seven days. With Saturday night's win, however, the Hot Rods still have an opportunity to clinch their third straight road series victory with a win in the series finale on Monday.

Fifth Third Field will host the Hot Rods in the series finale of this three-game set on Monday night at 6:00 PM CDT. The Hot Rods will send LHP Ryan Carpenter (5-2, 3.53) to the mound, and the Dragons will counter with LHP Tanner Robles (4-3, 4.45). Tune in to the game on 1340-AM "The Ticket" and online at 1340wbgn.com. The Forever Communications Pregame Show with Hank Fuerst begins at 5:40 PM CDT.
