South Bend Silver Hawks News Release

DAYTON, OHIO - Right-hander Jesse Darrah fanned a career-high 11 men and earned his fifth win as the South Bend Silver Hawks (28-27) defeated the Dayton Dragons 11-6 in the final game of a three-game series. The Silver Hawks went 3-4 on the seven-game road trip.

Roidany Aguila and Tom Belza each clubbed home runs while Josh Parr recorded a career-high four hits for the Silver Hawks, who pounded out 16 hits, their second-highest total of 2012. Belza and Aguila each recorded two hits for the Silver Hawks.

Chris Ellison, Matt Helm, Marc Bourgeois and Ender Inciarte also tallied a pair of hits.

Darrah (5-2) started for South Bend and allowed just three runs - two earned - on four hits over six innings. Keith Hessler tossed two scoreless innings out of the bullpen. Kable Hogben surrendered three runs - two earned - on four hits over an inning.

Stalin Gerson (3-4) started for Dayton and got the loss, allowing four runs - two earned - on seven hits over five innings.

The Silver Hawks took a 3-0 lead in the first inning on a two-run home run from Belza and an RBI single from Bourgeois. South Bend never trailed in the game.

Leading 4-3 after five innings, the Silver Hawks began to pull away scoring three in the sixth, two in the seventh and two in the eighth inning. Aguila started a two-run seventh inning rally with a solo home run to left field, his second long ball in as many nights. Aguila also extended his hitting streak to eight games.

Darrah's 11 punch outs is the most by any Silver Hawks pitcher in 2012, and the most since David Holmberg fanned 12 on April 25, 2011.

Belza finished 2-for-3 with two walks, a sacrifice fly and three runs knocked in. Junior Arias hit a solo home run for the Dragons in the third inning. The Dragons were paced by Yovan Gonzalez who finished 3-for-4.

The Silver Hawks snapped a three-game losing streak and avoided what would have been a season-long four-game skid.

The Silver Hawks return home Saturday to tangle with the Lansing Lugnuts at 7:05 p.m. Tyler Green (1-2, 3.23) starts for South Bend and he will be opposed by right-hander Anthony DeSclafani (4-1, 3.23).
