Frisco RoughRiders News Release
SPRINGDALE, AR-A night after the RoughRiders were carried by Jared Prince's four RBIs, Carlo Testa jolted the Naturals offense with five, as Frisco dropped the second of three games to Northwest Arkansas 9-5 Sunday night at Arvest Ballpark. Testa paced the home club, going 3-for-5 with a 2-run homer, and a bases clearing triple. He finished with five RBIs and was a single shy of the cycle.
Like Saturday night, both sides put runs in the board in the first inning. Jurickson Profar was first to reach for the "ËRiders singling past first baseman Mario Lisson. Profar moved up to third on a base hit by Mike Olt, and later scored on a wild pitch by Ethan Hollingsworth.
Northwest Arkansas countered in the home half of the inning, with a 2-run homer by Carlo Testa, but the RoughRiders tied the game at two in the second. Leury Garcia reached on a bunt base hit, stole second, and advanced third on a single, before coming home on a double play ball.
Frisco re-took the lead in the top half of the fifth. Jose Felix and Engel Beltre recorded one out singles, prompting a coaching visit by Naturals manager Brian Poldberg. Electing to stick with his starter Hollingsworth, Mike Olt hit a 3-run bomb two batters later to make it 5-2 "ËRiders.
The Naturals trimmed the deficit to a run in the home half of the frame on two run homer by Yuniesky Betancourt off Jake Brigham (2-2). However the Naturals bats wouldn't be finished, as the home team scored five runs in the bottom of the sixth. Three were driven in by Carlo Testa, who tripled to center off Trevor Hurley.
Jake Brigham suffered the loss going 5.1 innings. He allowed seven runs (six earned), on seven hits. The right-hander struck out a pair and walked one. Buddy Baumann picked up the win for the Naturals, working three scoreless innings and striking out four.
Frisco closes out their three game series with Northwest Arkansas Monday afternoon. Southpaw Tim Murphy (1-5, 6.27) gets the start for the "ËRiders, he is opposed by fellow lefthander Noel Arguelles (2-4, 6.52). First pitch is slated for 1:00 and can be heard on KKGM 1630 AM or on ridersbaseball.com. Pre-game coverage starts at 12:30.
