Erie, PA - The Erie SeaWolves have employed an effective formula in back-to-back, 7-3 wins over the Akron Aeros: Build a sizable, early lead, and get solid relief pitching late.

That plan worked again Saturday night, as the SeaWolves (24-23) won for the second straight night, 7-3, and dealt the Aeros (28-18) their third straight loss.

Erie shortstop Niuman Romero and first baseman Jordan Lennerton led an 11-hit SeaWolves attack, as each collected three hits and drove in a pair of runs. Erie built a 6-0 lead through the first six innings.

Both Romero and Lennerton had RBI's in the first inning against Aeros starter Brett Brach (1-2), as Erie jumped out to a 2-0 lead after one. They added another in the third, and chased Brach with a pair of unearned tallies in the fourth. Brach allowed five runs, three earned, on eight hits.

Akron rallied for three runs in the seventh off Zack Segovia (5-4). With two outs and no one on base, Tim Fedroff clubbed a solo homer, his second of the season- both off Segovia. After a walk to Ryan Rohlinger, Adam Abraham blasted a two-run shot, his fourth, to make it 6-3.

Lefty reliever Kenny Faulk entered and struck out Chen to end the inning, then worked the final two innings for his second save.

The Aeros left nine men on base. Fedroff was the only Akron hitter with two hits on the night.

The loss shaved a game off the Aeros lead in the EL West, as second-place Harrisburg defeated Reading, 5-4, reducing the Aeros lead to three games.

The Aeros (28-18) will continue the series with Erie on Sunday afternoon. The Aeros starter is unannounced, while the SeaWolves will counter with RHP Patrick Cooper (0-0, 10.80). Following the series with the SeaWolves, the Aeros will return to Canal Park on Tuesday, May 29th. All Aeros games are broadcast on Fox Sports 1350 AM and online at www.akronaeros.com.
