Northwest Arkansas Naturals News Release

SPRINGDALE, AR - The Naturals' parent club, the Kansas City Royals announced a transaction on Friday morning affecting the Northwest Arkansas roster. Starting pitcher Jake Odorizzi has been promoted to Triple-A Omaha.

Odorizzi spent part of last season with the Naturals and was leading the starting rotation in ERA this season(3.32) and wins with four, at the time of his promotion. The right-hander worked 38.0 innings in seven starts, striking out a team high 47, while issuing just ten walks. His combined ERA over the two seasons sits at 4.23 which is the ninth best in Naturals history, among those pitchers who have thrown at least 100 innings.

Odorizzi was acquired by the Kansas City Royals in December 2010 along with INF Alcides Escobar, RHP Jeremy Jeffress, and Lorenzo Cain in exchange for Zack Greinke and Yuniesky Betancourt.

Following the transaction, the Naturals' roster is at 24, one below the Texas League limit of 25 active players.

The Northwest Arkansas Naturals are the Double-A Texas League affiliate of the Kansas City Royals and play at state-of-the-art Arvest Ballpark, located in Springdale. Visit our website, nwanaturals.com, for information on season tickets and ticket plans.
