
Lake County Splits Four Game Set with Bowling Green, Wins 4-3

Lake County Captains News Release
(Bowling Green, KY) - The Captains used a three run eight inning to comeback and defeat Bowling Green on Tuesday afternoon in Kentucky by a final of 4-3. The Captains batted around and used three doubles to tie the ballgame. The doubles came from Jordan Smith, Robel Garcia and Jerrud Sabourin. Francisco Lindor then un-tied the game with an opposite field base hit to left field and gave the Captains the lead 4-3. That score held up and was the final total. The Captains went 5-2 on a seven game road trip.
Bowling Green scored the first run of the ballgame in the first inning. Jake Hager led off the game with a single, he was then balked to second. That was the Captains fourth balk of this series. Juniel Querecuto then doubled home Hager and it was a 1-0 ballgame.
The Captains evened the score in the top of the third inning. Jerrud Sabourin walked and Leonardo Castillo then doubled home Sabourin to tie the score at 1-1. Castillo was stranded on the bases after being at second base with no one out.
The Hot Rods took the lead in the bottom of the fifth inning. In the inning there were two singles and a walk. With one out, Todd Glaesmann lifted a fly ball to center field. Luigi Rodriguez made a diving catch to save extra bases but the fly ball deep enough to score the runner from third base and it was 2-1 BG. The Hot Rods tacked on another in the seventh when Jeff Malm tripled home Drew Vettleson, at the time it put BG up 3-1 heading to the eighth inning.
The Hot Rods sent LHP Felipe Rivero (4-1) to the mound. Rivero's line was 5.0 IP, 4H, 1 ER,3 BB, 5 K. Rivero also didn't factor in the decision. Jason McEachern (1-1) relieved Rivero and pitched two scoreless innings with three strikeouts until the eighth inning. McEachern gave up all three runs in the eighth and was saddled with the loss.
LHP Elvis Araujo (0-4) of the Captains did not factor in the decision. Elvis left after just four innings pitched he allowed four hits and one earned run. Araujo fanned five in his outing. Elvis left with the ballgame tied at one. Mason Radeke (2-1) entered the game in the fifth inning and pitched 3.0 Innings he surrendered four hits, two earned runs and struck out a pair. Radeke earned the win. Rob Nixon entered in the eighth inning and pitched two innings earning his first save of the season.
The Captains will return home to Classic Park on Wednesday Night. The Dayton Dragons are in town for a three game series and the Captains will welcome the Great Lakes Loons to Eastlake for a four game set. On Wedsday the Captains will send RHP Joe Colon (2-3, 3.90) to the mound against RHP Daniel Tuttle (1-1, 2.55). First Pitch is scheduled for 6:30 PM
