MONTGOMERY, Ala.- The Biscuits (10-11) walked 8 and hit 3 batters in a 10-2, 7-inning loss to the Birmingham Barons (10-11) during the first half of a day-night doubleheader Thursday at Riverwalk Stadium.
Montgomery trailed 1-0 going into the fourth inning. The Barons scored 2 runs in the fourth, 3 in the fifth and broke things open with a four-run sixth inning to make it 10-1 Birmingham. Matt Bushmann (0-1) suffered the loss.
Kyeong Kang had a strong 2-3 performance with a home run, triple and 2 RBI. Hak-Ju Lee had his second 3-hit day in as many games. Cole Figueroa extended his on-base streak to 21 games with a single.
The Biscuits and Barons will play game two of the doubleheader Thursday night at 7:05. RHP Jake Thompson (0-0, 3.86) will take the mound for Montgomery. The Barons will send out LHP Jose Quintana (2-1, 3.80).
