Lancaster Barnstormers Announce Management Changes

Lancaster Stormers News Release

LANCASTER, PA - The Lancaster Barnstormers today announced management changes that will be phased in over the next two months.

Lisa Riggs, currently President of the James Street Improvement District (JSID), a Lancaster City based community and economic development organization, has been appointed president of the team. Lisa will guide the ballclub's strategic development and be responsible for its implementation. Her leadership of the overall performance of the Barnstormers will include overseeing all employees, identifying non-baseball opportunities for the ballpark and serving as the ballclub's primary representative in the Lancaster community, along with Jon Danos, team CEO.

Riggs was selected following a year-long nationwide search.

"We are overjoyed that Lisa has agreed to join our organization," said Danos. "She is a very talented community and business leader who has built a reputation for achievement, skillfulness, and community service. She is passionate about the Barnstormers and baseball in general and will bring the club to new levels of excellence". Lisa will be joining the Barnstormers on May 21st.

Riggs, a Lancaster County resident since 2003, started and led the JSID for nine years. In that capacity, she oversaw all aspects of the organization, including development and implementation of its strategic plan, managing its finances, and implementing a broad range of programs focused on enhancing the quality of life in Downtown and Northwest Lancaster City. Her connection with the Lancaster Barnstormers extends back to 2003 when the JSID served as a critical partner in the development of Clipper Magazine Stadium, assessing its impact on residents and guiding redevelopment of adjacent neighborhoods. Before moving to Lancaster, Riggs, a Johns Hopkins University graduate, spent eleven years in economic development in Baltimore, MD. She resides now in East Hempfield Township, with her husband and two children.

"I'm thrilled to be joining this dynamic organization that places a high value on many of the same areas important to me: family, fun and the community," said Riggs. "As a long-standing community partner of the Lancaster Barnstormers, I know first hand the talent and professionalism that already exists. I'm eager to add my energy to the ballclub. "

Riggs is expected to remain active in the community, as reflected through her current board and volunteer roles with United Disabilities Services, the Lancaster Parking Authority, the Lancaster County Coalition to End Homelessness and South East Lancaster Health Services.

Kristen Simon, who has been with the team for four years and currently serves as the team's assistant general manager, will be elevated to general manager. Simon has worked in minor league baseball for 12 years and has been primarily responsible for the Barnstormers day to day administration, venue programming, game day operations, and enriching the fan experience.

Danos stated, "Kristen is an invaluable asset to our team and is very deserving of her new position. She has minor league baseball in her DNA and understands as well as anybody what our brand is about."

Vince Bulik will continue as vice president of business development and Anthony DeMarco as senior director of marketing with the team.

The Barnstormers open the 2012 season on Tuesday, May 1.
