York Revolution News Release

Officially welcoming fans into the stadium for the first time in 2012, the two-time defending Atlantic League champion York Revolution kicked off the year with their annual preseason party, topping the "York County All-Stars" by a final score of 10-1 at Fan Fest at Sovereign Bank Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The Revs struck first with a pair of runs in the bottom of the first inning. Scott Grimes reached third on a double steal and came home on a throwing error for the game's first run, and Chris Nowak posted his seventh RBI of the spring with a double to right-center, plating Stephen Douglas to give York the 2-0 lead. Salvador Paniagua added an RBI single to right an inning later as the lead grew to 3-0.

Andres Perez tacked on two more with a home run to left field in the bottom of the third, his second long ball in as many days.

The Revs would erupt for five runs in the eighth to put it out of reach, coming on a two-run homer to left by James Shanks that bounced off the top of the Arch Nemesis, and a towering three-run shot to left-center by Scott Grimes.

The Revs have now clubbed ten home runs this spring, hit by six different players.

Revs starter Corey Thurman earned the win, allowing just an unearned run in three innings of work.

Relievers Ian Thomas (two innings), Santo Luis, Kris Regas, Adam Thomas, and R.J. Rodriguez combined to limit the All-Stars to just six hits for the game.

The All-Stars plated their lone run in the top of the third, when a pair of two-out errors allowed former Revs slugger Jason Aspito to cross the plate with an unearned run.

The Revs will open the 2012 season with a trip to Sugar Land, TX to take on the expansion Skeeters on Thursday night at Constellation Field. First pitch is set for 8:05 p.m. eastern, and Revs fans can catch the action live on SportsRadio 1350 and Shoutcast.com (search: YorkRevs) with Darrell Henry on the call beginning at 7:30 p.m.

The Revs will return home to Sovereign Bank Stadium for the home opener with a pregame championship ring ceremony on Tuesday, May 1 against the Camden Riversharks at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are available at YorkRevolution.com, (717) 801-HITS, and in-person at the Apple Chevrolet Ticket Office.
