Saskatoon Blades Teams of the Decades Contest: the 1990s

SASKATOON - The 1990s were a memorable decade for the Saskatoon Blades. In addition to reaching the WHL final twice, the franchise showcased some of its most memorable characters:

Frank Banham rewrote the team's record book with an 83-goal season; Fans serenaded goalie Norm Maracle with the theme song from Cheers ("Norm!");And Kamsack kid Darcy Hordichuk gained a reputation for throwing big hits with his hips and his hands.

Now fans can vote for their favourite Blades from the '90s and every other era in the club's colourful history. Leading up to the 2013 MasterCard Memorial Cup in Saskatoon, the host committee is using online polls to determine franchise all-star teams for each decade dating back to the 1960s.

Everyone who casts a ballot will be entered to win game tickets to the 2013 MasterCard Memorial Cup.

Voting for the Team of the Millennium (2000 to present) wrapped up April 14, and the poll for Team of the '90s is now open at:

Submissions will be accepted until May 5. Subsequent voting segments will determine Blade all-star teams from the 1960s, '70s, and '80s. All winners will be announced during the 2012-13 WHL season.
