
Tampa Bay Reassigns Trevor Smith to Admirals

TAMPA, Fla. - The Tampa Bay Lightning, NHL parent club of the Norfolk Admirals, have reassigned forward Trevor Smith to the Admirals today, Lightning Vice President and General Manager Steve Yzerman announced.
Smith, 27, has played in 16 games with the Lightning this season, recording two goals and five points to go along with four penalty minutes. He scored his first goal of the season with the Lightning on March 19 versus the Buffalo Sabres. Smith has averaged 12:27 time on ice during his 16 games with the Lightning this season.
The 6-foot-1, 195-pound forward has played in 58 games with the Admirals this season, recording 22 goals and 62 points. He ranks second on the Admirals in assists and third on the club in points. He ranks tied for second in the AHL with a plus-27 rating and is tied for ninth in assists (40). Smith has played in 340 career AHL games with Norfolk, the Bridgeport Sound Tigers, the Syracuse Crunch and the Springfield Falcons. In those games, he has registered 114 goals and 254 points. He has also appeared in 10 career Calder Cup Playoff games, notching two goals and seven points.
A native of North Vancouver, British Columbia, Smith was signed as a free agent by the Lightning on July 5, 2011. He was originally undrafted out of the University of New Hampshire where he was selected to the All Hockey East First Team and a Second Team All American.
The Admirals return Scope Tuesday night in search of their 23rd consecutive win as the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins visit Norfolk for the final time in the regular season. The puck drops at 7:15 p.m. in the final Admirals Value Night of 2011-12.
