
Griffins Get Three from Toledo

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Detroit Red Wings on Sunday reassigned defenseman Gleason Fournier from the ECHL's Toledo Walleye to the Grand Rapids Griffins. Additionally, the Griffins recalled defenseman Bryan Rufenach and forward Mike Thomas from the Walleye.
Fournier, 20, has played in 13 games with the Griffins this season, recording four points (1-3 - 4) and 14 penalty minutes. The Rimouski, Quebec, native skated in 55 games with the Walleye this season, notching 18 points (2-16 - 18) and 32 penalty minutes.
A native of Barrie, Ontario, Rufenach has logged two assists and 11 penalty minutes in 13 games with Grand Rapids this season. The 22-year-old defenseman finished third in goals among ECHL defenseman with 13 and tied for third on Toledo in scoring with 33 points (13-20 - 33).
Thomas, 22, has four points (1-3 - 4) in 27 AHL games this season, joining Grand Rapids on Jan. 19 in a trade from Springfield. The New Maryland, New Brunswick, native also registered 12 points (5-7 - 12) and 68 penalty minutes in 31 ECHL games with Chicago and Toledo.
The Griffins will play their third game in three days when they take on the Toronto Marlies today at 3 p.m., before returning to host the Texas Stars on Wednesday at 7 p.m. Tickets are available at griffinshockey.com.
