Springfield Falcons News Release
The Springfield Falcons earned probably their biggest victory of the season on Sunday afternoon in Worcester, MA beating the Sharks 3-2 at the DCU Center. The Falcons used a pair of third period goals erasing a 2-1 deficit and they skated away with the well-deserved two points. Springfield is on a two-game winning streak and they are now only four points behind the 8th and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.
Trailing by one heading into the final 20 minutes, the Falcons used the power play late in regulation to even the score. Alexandre Giroux converted on the man advantage at 11:54 of the third period tying the score at 2-2 and giving Springfield momentum late in the final frame.
Less than four minutes after Giroux's equalizer, Andrew Joudrey gave the Falcons their first lead of the night when he converted at 15:10 of the final frame giving the Falcons a 3-2 advantage.
The Falcons started their stretch of three unanswered goals at 6:33 of the second period when Joudrey tallied his first marker of the night, 10th on the season, cutting Springfield's deficit to 2-1.
Worcester had the game's early lead and when Sebastian Stalberg tallied at 3:15 of the middle frame, the Sharks had a 2-0 lead on the Falcons.
The Sharks opened the scoring in the first period when Brodie Reid converted on the power play just 4:09 into the opening frame.
Falcons goaltender Manny Legace earned his second straight win stopping 30 of 32 shots on goal.
