Calgary Hitmen News Release
Calgary, AB - The Calgary Roughnecks announced today that the team has added goaltender Matt King and defenceman Matt Leveque to the practice roster.
"Matt King is a veteran goalie who has won two championships with the Roughnecks," said Calgary Roughnecks General Manager Mike Board. "We are happy to have him back in the Roughnecks family."
King, a native of Victoria, British Columbia, previously played four seasons with the Roughnecks and was part of the 2004 and 2009 championship squads. In 2009, King dressed for all 16 regular season games plus all three playoff contests, boasting seven regular season wins and three post-season victories to help earn Calgary the Champion's Cup. The 31-year-old was recently released by the Washington Stealth where he dressed for three games this season.
"Matt Leveque has a lot of experience in the league and brings a winning attitude to our team," commented Board. "He is a strong defender who can push the ball up the floor and can take draws. He is also a WLA champion and brings a winning attitude to our team."
Leveque, a resident of Langley, British Columbia, was released by the Colorado Mammoth earlier this season. During the summer, Leveque was the captain of the Langley Thunder who won the 2011 Western Lacrosse Association championship and hosted the 2011 Mann Cup.
Board continued, "It was important to add these two players for depth as we head into the final stretch of the regular season. We believe in the players we have on our roster and know they are committed to being better each and every game."
Calgary returns to action when they host the Buffalo Bandits on Saturday, March 24 at 7:00 p.m.
