Fri., Mar. 9, Albany 1 at Syracuse 2 (Shootout)

Keith Kinkaid tied a season high with 37 saves, but the Devils fell, 2-1, in a shootout against Syracuse at the Onondaga County War Memorial at Oncenter. Syracuse's Peter Holland scored at 8:49 of the second period and Steve Zalewski sent the game into overtime with 35.7 seconds remaining in regulation. Mattias Tedenby and Matt Anderson scored for Albany in the shootout, but Kyle Palmieri, Holland and Jean-Francois Jacques combined for the Crunch's winning combination.

Trailing 4-1 with less than five minutes remaining, the Devils scored two quick goals, but couldn't complete the comeback, falling 4-3 against the Phantoms at the Glens Falls Civic Center. Matt Anderson scored just 1:52 into the contest. After four-straight Adirondack goals, Nathan Perkovich scored with 4:28 remaining and Steve Zalewski moved the Devils within one with 16 seconds left. Jeff Frazee made 28 stops.

Peter Harrold scored for the Devils, who fell, 5-1, to the Crunch at the Onondaga County War Memorial at Oncenter. Harrold's goal came with assists to Brad Mills and Darcy Zajac at 10:58 of the first to make the score 2-1. The Crunch had established a lead with goals from Mathieu Carle and Luca Caputi. After Harrold's goal, Patrick Marroon, Nick Schaus and Dan Sexton added to Syracuse's advantage.

Notables

- The Devils are third in the Northeast Division and eighth in the Eastern Conference with a 27-24-6-4 record (64 pts.). They are 14-8-4-3 at the Times Union Center and 13-16-2-1 on the road.

- Both of Albany's opponents this weekend play in the East Division. The Devils are 13-10-1-2 against that division this season.

- Before returning to the Devils lineup Friday, Matt Anderson had missed 20-consecutive games since his last appearance on Jan. 16 against Adirondack. On Saturday, he scored his first goal back at Adirondack. He ranks sixth on the team with 23 points with eight goals and 15 assists.

- Ten of Joe Whitney's 35 points have been registered against Binghamton. In seven games against the Senators, the first-year Devil has three goals and seven assists. Overall, Whitney has produced 13 goals and 22 assists in 58 games.

- Against Hershey, Steve Zalewski leads the team with three points in two games. He netted a goal in a 4-1 setback at the Times Union Center on Oct. 21 and earned two assists in a 6-5 shootout win at Hershey on Nov. 19.
