Edmonton, AB - Three unanswered first period goals in a five minute span helped lift the Oil Kings to a 4-1 win over the visiting Lethbridge Hurricanes on Sunday afternoon. Mitch Moroz tallied a pair of goals to lead the way for the Kings. Tyler Maxwell scored the eventual game winner for his 36th goal of the season while Stephane Legault scored an empty netter. Travis Ewanyk scored his first assist since returning from a season long injury and led all Oil Kings with a plus 3 plus/minus rating.

Starting goaltender Laurent Brossoit returned to form as he posted a 31 save performance including a second and third period where the Oil Kings were out shot 25-17. Brossoit now has a record of 35-13-2-3 to rank second in the WHL.

The Oil Kings remain firmly atop the Eastern Conference standings with a record of 41-15-3-4 and 89 points. They are currently in a three-way tie for second in the WHL overall standings, just a point behind the WHL leading Kamloops Blazers.

Next up the Oil Kings will take on the defending WHL Champion Kootenay Ice in Cranbrook on Wednesday with game time set for 7PM MST.
