Kamloops defeats Kelowna

The Kamloops Rockets defeated the Kelowna Rockets 3-2 on Saturday night in an entertaining Western Hockey League game at Prospera Place in Kelowna.

A third period marker by the Blazers Dylan Willick snapped a 2-2 tie and sent the Blazers to the regulation time victory in front of 6,086 fans.

The Rockets came out strong in the first period, outshooting Kamloops 20-15 but they were unable to beat Blazers goalie Cole Cheveldave. Late in the first Kamloops scored two straight power play goals to take a 2-0 lead.

The Rockets chipped away at the lead as Myles Bell scored a second period power play goal to make the score 2-1. Carter Rigby tied the game at 2-2 early in the third period, on another Rockets power play.

It was an evenly played game as the shots were 37-37 with goalies Adam Brown for the Rockets and Cole Cheveldave for Kamloops playing well.

The Rockets are back in action on Tuesday as they travel to Seattle to play the Thunderbirds before returning to Kelowna on Wednesday to play Edmonton.
