The Lake Erie Monsters (16-17-1-1) surrendered four second-period goals and were unable to recover, falling by a 6-3 score to the Milwaukee Admirals (20-10-0-1) Friday night. Patrick Rissmiller, Evan Brophey, and Tyson Barrie scored for the Monsters in the loss, which started a five-game road swing for the team.

Milwaukee scored the lone goal of the first period when Michael Latta streaked into the right circle and fired a puck over the shoulder of Monsters goalie Trevor Cann to give the Admirals a 1-0 lead.

The Admirals extended their lead to 3-0 in the first 4:30 of the second period with goals from Ryan Flynn and Scott Ford before Rissmiller put the Monsters on the board at 9:11 of the second period with the Monsters on the power play. Rissmiller's centering pass bounced off the leg of an Admiral and into the net for his second goal of the season, with assists being credited to Brophey and Barrie.

With the Admirals leading 3-1, Kyle Wilson cut to the right side of the net and scored top-shelf from a sharp angle to extend the Admirals lead to 4-1 and spell the end of Cann's night in net. Cann stopped 12 of 16 shots in 34:55 of work.

James Reid entered the game, and within minutes, Victor Bartley received a back-door pass with the Admirals on the power play and scored the fifth Milwaukee goal of the night at 17:02 of the second period.

Before the second period could end, the Monsters cut the deficit by one on the power play when Brophey redirected a Rissmiller pass into the net to make the score 5-2 in favor of Milwaukee. The goal, Brophey's ninth, was also assisted by Cameron Gaunce.

At 3:03 of the third period, Barrie scored a shorthanded goal on a one-timer from the top of the left circle. The goal, his fifth, was assisted by Justin Mercier and Mike Carman.

With the Monsters fighting back and trailing 5-3, Jusso Puustinen scored for Milwaukee to give Milwaukee a 6-3 lead.

Reid finished the game for the Monsters, stopping 10 of 12 in 22:20 of game time. Cann suffered the loss and is 8-12-0. Anders Lindback stopped 30 of 33 for the Admirals to improve to 1-0-0; he was assigned from the Nashville Predators prior to the game.

The Monsters visit the Chicago Wolves Saturday night at 8:00 PM. All the action can be heard live on ESPN 850 WKNR.
