Worcester Sharks News Release

WORCESTER, MA - Nathan Moon scored the only Sharks goal as Worcester fell 3-1 to the Pirates at the DCU Center on Saturday evening to end the month of November 2-6-3-0.

Tyson Sexmith made 28 saves in the loss for Worcester as the Sharks dropped both games in the home-and-home series with Portland.

In the first period, Dean Arsene (1st) gave the Pirates a 1-0 lead after his shot from 60 feet skipped through traffic and past Tyson Sexsmith at 8:17. Nathan Moon (3rd) tied the score at 1-1 after Cam MacIntyre's shot was deflected and ended up on Moon's stick at the side of the net. Each team fired nine shots in the first period with the two teams tied at 1-1.

Brett MacLean (2nd) scored on the power play at 15:14 after a terrific across the crease feed from Andy Miele to give Portland a 2-1 lead and the only score in the middle frame. Both teams had 21 shots through 40 minutes.

Matt Watkins added insurance for the Pirates at 4:14 converting a 3-on-2 rush for the Pirates after a great feed by Andy Miele. Portland goaltender Curtis McElhinney stood tall the rest of the way making 29 saves in the winning effort for the Pirates.

The Sharks record falls to 6-6-3-2 with 17 points through 17 games and to 4-5-0-1 at the DCU Center.
