Edmonton Oil Kings News Release

Brandon, MB - A late push including a late third period marker from Oilers draft pick Kristians Pelss came up just short for the Oil Kings as they suffered a 3-2 loss to the hometown Brandon Wheat Kings on Saturday night. After a pair of early goals from the Wheat Kings; Michael St.Croix replied with his fifth of the season in the final minutes of the first to make it a 2-1 game going into the second. That score would hold up until the third where Brandon tallied what would be the game winner just a minute into the third. St. Croix has now tallied a point in nine straight games with four goals and nine assists over that span.

Oil Kings starter Laurent Brossoit would finish his night with 35 saves as the final shot tally was 38-29 in favor to the home side. The Oil Kings power play was 1 for 5 on the night while Edmonton held the Wheaties to 1 for 4 with the man advantage. The loss combined with a loss on Friday in Regina marks the first time in nearly a month the Oil have dropped back to back games.

The Oil Kings will now return to Rexall Place next weekend on Saturday, November 5th as they take on Colorado Avalanche draft pick Calvin Pickard and the Seattle Thunderbirds.

Puck drop is set for 700PM - remember that all games this season will be broadcast live on the TEAM 1260 and streamed live at WHL.ca.
