L.V. 51s Host Salt Lake in Final Four Games of 2011 Season from September 2-5

LAS VEGAS: The Las Vegas 51s professional baseball team of the Pacific Coast League (PCL), Triple-A affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays, will return to Cashman Field for the final homestand of the 2011 season against the Salt Lake Bees, Triple-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, on Friday, September 2 at 7:05 p.m. at Cashman Field. Las Vegas will host Salt Lake in the final four games of the regular season over the Labor Day weekend through Monday, September 5.The 51s, under manager Marty Brown, are currently 68-71, .489 on the season and in second place in the Pacific Conference Southern Division, 16 games behind Sacramento (84-55, .604, best record in the PCL). The 51s are currently on a nine-game road trip that will conclude in Sacramento, Calif., against the River Cats, Triple-A affiliate of the Oakland A's, on Thursday evening. The River Cats have captured the Southern Division for the fifth straight season (2007-11).
Las Vegas is averaging 4,381 fans (289,128) through 66 home dates in the 2011 campaign. The season-high crowd was 11,001 vs. Round Rock on May 17. The Las Vegas franchise is 10,872 fans shy of reaching the 300,000 plateau in "home" attendance for the 29th consecutive season (1983-2011) and the all-time total now stands at 9,650,094.
A spectacular postgame "Fireworks" show, presented by Allegiant Airlines, will be featured and five flat screen televisions will be given away to selected fans throughout the game for Friday's opener against the Bees.
The final Carl's Jr. Family Night will also be presented on Friday. Fans can purchase the deal that includes: 4 Tickets; 4 Carl's Jr. $4 Food Coupons; 4 Las Vegas 51s Hats and the price ranges are $36 for Reserved; $48 for Plaza; $52 for Field.
The 51s organization, committed to be a community partner, will welcome Central Christian Church to the ballpark on Friday for a food drive. The church members will be collecting donations of non-perishable foods at the main gate at Cashman Field from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Fans can drop off boxes of graham crackers, cereal, pasta and canned soups, vegetables and milk. Central Christian Church's Food Pantry helps approximately 125 families a week with about 3,000 pounds of food per week.
Mesh Jersey Night, presented by the Las Vegas Review-Journal, will be featured on Fan Appreciation Night on Saturday, September 3 at 7:05 p.m. The first 2,500 fans through the gates will receive a Mesh Jersey. The 51s organization will thank the fans for their support as over 50 prizes will be awarded throughout the evening.
Game three of the four-game series will feature the final Sunday game of the season on September 4 at 7:05. Las Vegas will then conclude its 29th PCL season in the Silver State on Monday (Labor Day), September 5 with a matinee contest at 12:05 p.m.
Value Menu Monday will be featured as the 51s and Aramark have teamed together for discounted food items on Hot Dogs, Popcorn, Peanuts, Cracker Jacks and Pretzels for just $1.00 per item.
Salt Lake's roster features one of the top 10 prospects in the Angels organization, according to Baseball America: right-handed pitcher Tyler Chatwood (No. 2).
The Shade Tree will be at ballpark from 11 a.m. to Noon to accept donations. The Shade Tree will accept canned foods, toilet paper & kleenex, face towels/washcloths, boy's pajamas, peroxide, rubbing alcohol, spray deodorant, laundry detergent, glass cleaner, feminine hygiene products and canned cat and dog food for the pets. The mission of The Shade Tree is to provide safe shelter to homeless and abused women and children in crisis and to offer life-changing services promoting stability, dignity and self-reliance.
The 2011 PCL Playoffs will begin on Wednesday, September 7 and the "Conference Playoffs" will run through the 11th. It will feature the best 3-out-of-5 series' between the four conference winners: American Northern (Omaha or Memphis) at American Southern (Round Rock) and Pacific Southern (Sacramento) at Pacific Northern (Reno). The two winners will then square off for the PCL Championship series (Best-of-five) from Tuesday-Sunday, September 13-18.
The Triple-A Baseball National Championship Game, pitting the winner of the International League vs. PCL, will be held on Tuesday, September 20 at Albuquerque's Isotopes Park. The game will be televised live at 5:05 p.m. (PDT) on VERSUS.
The 51s will broadcast all games on Lotus Broadcasting on Fox Sports Radio 920 AM, which will carry live all 144 regular season games. Also, all games will be available on the 51s website (Major League Baseball Advanced Media, MLBAM) at www.LV51.com . Russ Langer, the six-time Nevada Sportscaster of the Year by the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association (NSSA), is in his 12th season behind the microphone calling 51s baseball.

Tickets for the 51s remaining four home games can be purchased at the Cashman Field box office. The box office is open Monday-Friday (non game days) from Noon to 4:30 p.m. Tickets can also be purchased through Ticketmaster (1-800-745-3000, www.ticketmaster.com). Ticketmaster outlets are located at selected Smith's Food & Drug.
