Reno Aces News Release
ROUND ROCK, Texas.-Two of the most productive all-around players in Aces franchise history-outfielder Collin Cowgill and shortstop Cody Ransom-have been elected to the 2011 All-Pacific Coast League team, the league office announced today.
Cowgill and Ransom become the second and third Aces to earn a nod to the end-of-season All-PCL squad. John Hester became the first Reno player to pick-up the honor after being named the All-PCL catcher in 2009.
In his first season at the Triple-A level, Cowgill batted .354 with 13 homers and 70 RBIs for the Aces before having his contract selected by Arizona for the first time in his career on July 26. He registered 140 hits with Reno-including 45 extra-base hits-and was successful on 30-of-33 stolen base attempts. Earlier this month, Baseball America tabbed Cowgill as the PCL's Best Base Runner, Best Defensive Outfielder and Most Exciting Player. Cowgill hit for the cycle on June 7, was twice named PCL Player of the Week and was a starter in the Triple-A All-Star Game.
Despite a month-long stint in the big leagues, Ransom has put together one of the most prolific offensive seasons in Aces franchise history. In his final game in July before having his contract purchased by the D-backs, Ransom became Reno's all-time single-season home run (26) and RBI (89) leader. He earned a starting nod in the Triple-A All-Star Game and was named PCL Player of the Week on June 27. He played in 12 games for the Diamondbacks this season, and has since returned to the Reno lineup.
The Aces return to Reno tonight to begin the final regular season homestand of the year. General Admission tickets are available for just $1 tonight, as the Aces are one win away from clinching their first-ever postseason berth. Tickets for all Aces games, including the 2011 Pacific Coast League playoffs, are available today at RenoAces.com, the Aces Ballpark Box Office or by phone at (775) 334-7000. Discounted group tickets are also available.
