Charlotte Knights News Release

FORT MILL, S.C. - The Charlotte Knights won their second straight game over the Indianapolis Indians 4-1 at Knights Stadium. Knights starting pitcher Matt Zaleski earned the win to improve to 4-4 on the season and struck out six.

Zaleski has been arguably the hottest pitcher in the International League in the past month. Zaleski has been impressive in his last five starts going 3-0 with a 1.62 ERA (6 ER/33.1 IP) in that span. He has not lost since June 29th.

The Charlotte starter was able to get a little help from the offense today. Tyler Kuhn, recently brought up from Double-A Birmingham, went 2 for 4 in the game with a pair of doubles. Kuhn would score on a Dallas McPherson single during a three run Knights third inning.

Charlotte native and former South Mecklenburg High School star Kyle Shelton had his first career Triple-A hit in the third inning. The base hit to right field scored the Knights first run of the game. The Knights also added a run on an Eduardo Escobar RBI sacrifice fly. The only home run of the game was a solo blast from Jordan Danks in the sixth inning.

Shane Lindsay pitched a scoreless ninth inning to end the game and earn his second save of the season. The Indians' Sean Gallagher took the loss to fall to 5-11.

The Knights and Indians continue their series tomorrow at 7:15 PM. LHP Doug Davis will start for Charlotte and Indianapolis has not yet named a starter.

The Charlotte Knights are the Triple-A affiliate of the Chicago White Sox. For ticket or event information, please contact the Knights front office at (704) 357-8071 or (803) 548-8050 or visit our website at for more information.
