Long Island Ducks News Release

(Central Islip, NY) - The Long Island Ducks defeated the Road Warriors 13-2 on Friday night in the first game of a three-game series at Bethpage Ballpark.

The Road Warriors took an early 2-0 lead on Carlos Sosa's two-run double in the first against Ducks' starter Mike Loree. The Ducks tied the score in the second against Road Warriors' starter Luke Massetti on J.R. House's two-run homer to left-center field.

Long Island tacked on two more in the third and three in the fourth on a pair of home runs to build a 7-2 advantage. John Rodriguez' two-run shot to right and Javier Colina's three-run blast to left did the damage. Four more runs in the sixth, with Matt Esquivel's two-run double highlighting the frame, and a two-run homer from Lew Ford in the eighth rounded out the scoring.

Loree (11-1) settled down to pick up the victory, tossing five innings, allowing two runs on three hits with three strikeouts. Massetti (5-7) suffered the loss, allowing seven runs on seven hits in four innings of work. Four Ducks pitchers combined to shutout the visitors over the final four innings.

Colina led the way with three hits, three RBI, and four runs at the plate, while Ford and Rodriguez each picked up three RBI as well.
