Duckworth Settles In, PawSox Come Back for 3-2 Win

Pawtucket scored three times in the fourth inning to erase a 2-0 deficit and they extended their winning streak to four games with a 3-2 victory over the Durham Bulls in front of 6,662 fans Thursday night.
PawSox starting pitcher Brandon Duckworth allowed four hits to begin the second inning, but escaped the inning only allowing two runs. Those would be the only two runs Durham would score in the ballgame as Duckworth settled-in to throw 99 pitches over 6.2 innings to pick up his first win since May 8.
Nate Spears' one-out single to drive home Lars Anderson from third base proved to be the game-winning hit as the teams traded scoreless frames over the final five innings. Anderson doubled home Daniel Nava earlier in the inning and Hector Luna's sacrifice fly one batter later to plate Ryan Lavarnway tied the game 2-2.
Michael Bowden picked up his team-leading tenth save of the season- needing 31 pitches to pitch a scoreless ninth inning.
The PawSox and Bulls will face-off for the second of four games Friday night. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. with Pawtucket's Kevin Millwood (4-0, 4.50 ERA) facing Alexander Torres (6-6, 3.30 ERA). Friday night is PawSox Replica Jersey Night at McCoy Stadium where the first 5,000 fans will receive a grey, No. 31 PawSox jersey compliments of Dunkin' Donuts, SuperCuts, NESN and 92 PRO-FM.
The Boston Red Sox will send OF Carl Crawford to Pawtucket for an injury rehab assignment for games on Friday (7:05 pm) and Saturday (6:05 pm) nights. Crawford has been on the Red Sox' disabled list since June 18 with a left hamstring strain suffered while beating out an infield single in the bottom of the 1st-inning on June 17 vs. Milwaukee. Crawford is batting .243 in 67 games for the Red Sox this season with 11 2B, 4 3B, 6 HR, 31 RBI and 8 SB. He batted .316 in his last 21 games prior to the injury with 4 HR & 17 RBI.
