Celestino, Vazquez Spark Greenville Victory Over Legends

Greenville starter Miguel Celestino took a perfect game into the fifth inning, and Christian Vazquez drove in three runs with a homer and a double as the Drive defeated the Lexington Legends 5-2 Saturday night in front of 6,730 fans at Whitaker Bank Ballpark. Greenville took a 1-0 lead in the third inning. David Renfroe led off with a single. After Lucas LeBlanc struck out, Renfroe advanced to second on a groundout by Felix Sanchez, and scored on a single by Heiker Meneses. The Drive added two more in the fourth when Drew Hedman singled and Vazquez followed with his third home run of the series and ninth of the season. Lexington cut the deficit to one in the fifth. Ben Heath drew a leadoff walk to become the Legends' first baserunner of the game. Heath advanced to third on two infield outs and scored on Tyler Burnett's double. Burnett came home on Roberto Pena's single down the left field line, leaving the Drive with a 3-2 lead. Greenville added a run in the sixth. With one out, Vazquez singled and advanced to second when Henry Ramos walked. Renfroe doubled to deep center field, scoring Vazquez. Ramos was thrown out trying to score from first. The Drive added a final run in the eighth on back-to-back doubles by Hedman and Vazquez. Celestino (6-4) earned the victory with six innings of work. He allowed two runs on three hits. Lexington starter Carlos Quevedo (5-4) was the losing pitcher. The Legends will try to earn a split with the Drive tomorrow in the final game of the four-game series. First pitch is scheduled for 5:05 p.m.
