LAKEWOOD, NJ - The Lakewood BlueClaws rode their Starting Pitching to not 2 but 2 victories over the Delmarva Shorebirds on Saturday night in Lakewood. The BlueClaws won 4-2 in Game 1 and 3-2 in Game 2. Both games were just 7 innings in length.

Garett Claypool started Game 1 for Lakewood and pitched well allowing just 2 runs/1 earned over 6 innings to pick up the win and improve to 3-3 on the year. Lisalberto Bonilla threw 6 inning to start Game 2, but left with the game tied 2-2 and did not factor in the decision. Both starters struck out 6 over 6 innings for the BlueClaws on Saturday. Chase Johnson threw a 1-2-3 7th inning and got the win in the 2nd game, and Juan Sosa threw a perfect 7th to pick up his 8th save of the year in Game 1.

Jim Murphy was 2-2 with 2 doubles and a walk in Game 1, and went 1-2 in Game 2. Murphy's average is up to .290 on the year. Anthony Hewitt crushed his 8th home run of the year with a solo shot in the 4th inning of Game 1. The biggest play of the day came in the 7th inning of Game 2 however as Alan Schoenberger scored from 1B on Edgar Duran's big RBI double. Duran crushed a 3-2 pitch off the RF wall for the walk off win for Lakewood.

Lakewood is now 2-1 in the second half and has a chance to win the series in the final game of the 4 game series on Sunday. First Pitch on Sunday is scheduled for 1:05 pm.
