HICKORY, NC - The Hickory Crawdads, 1st-Half Northern Division Champions, scored early and often to earn a 9-4 victory over the visiting West Virginia Power, before 2,772 fans at L.P. Frans Stadium on Saturday night.

The Crawdads (42-29, 2-1) struck for three runs in the first inning off of Power RHP Zack Von Rosenberg (L, 3-5) after the Power put up a run in the top of the inning. Consecutive singles from RF Josh Richmond and 1B Andrew Clark set up 3B Alejandro Selen, who belted one deep over the right-center wall to give the 'Dads a 3-1 advantage. It was Selen's 7th home run of the season, which ties him for the team lead with All-Stars C Tomas Telis and 3B Christian Villanueva.

DH Kellin Deglan blasted his third home run of the season over the right field wall in the second inning to extend the 'Dads lead to 4-1. Hickory tacked on another run in the third inning when Richmond led off the inning with a triple and scored on Clark's sacrifice fly to center field.

After holding the Power (36-35, 1-2) scoreless for consecutive innings, RHP Matt Thompson (W, 3-4) surrendered a run in the top of the fourth when 1B Justin Howard scored on a passed ball charged to C Yefry Castillo. The 'Dads came right back in the bottom of the inning with a two-out RBI triple from SS Jurickson Profar, who was then plated by an RBI single from CF Jake Skole, putting the 'Dads up 7-2.

A pair of wild pitches from Thompson in the fifth inning allowed 3B Eric Avila to score. C Elias Diaz scored on a single from 3B Eric Avila in the sixth inning off of RHP Jorge Marban, cutting the 'Dads lead to 7-4.

The 'Dads responded in the bottom of the sixth inning with Castillo smacking an RBI single, scoring Deglan after the Crawdads designated hitter singled to lead off the stanza.

Marban tossed a scoreless seventh inning for the Crawdads, before giving way to RHP Ben Henry, who followed with a scoreless top of the eighth. After another Castillo RBI single put Hickory in front by five runs in the bottom of the eighth, Henry then dealt another scoreless frame in the ninth to close the Crawdads 9-4 victory.
