Grand Slam Lifts Kannapolis to a 5-1 Walk off Win

Salisbury, Md. - With the bases loaded in the bottom of the 12th inning, Dan Black hit a grand slam homer over the left field wall to lift the Intimidators 5-1 on Tuesday night at Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium. The Intimidators secure the series win by winning the first three games of the series.

The Intimidators jumped on the board early in the first inning. John Spatola hit an 0-2 pitch from Scott Copeland over the double wall in right field.

The Shorebirds knotted the game at 1-1 in the seventh inning. Brenden Webb hit a one-out double and moved to third on a wild pitch.

The Shorebirds had a chance in the ninth inning to take a lead. With the bases loaded and nobody out, Kannapolis reliever Jake Wilson struck out Ty Kelly, Manny Machado and Mike Flacco in a row.

In the 12th inning, Kyle Eveland reached first on a soft liner into right. After two wild pitches advanced him to third, John Spatola walked. Then, Brady Shoemaker was intentionally walked to put a force ay every base. Dan Black followed with a home run over the left field wall.

Ashur Tolliver was pinned with the loss is 1.1 innings. Reid Kelly earned the win for Kannapolis in two scoreless innings.

The Shorebirds and Intimidators play game four on Wednesday night at 7:05 p.m. LHP Jarret Martin is the scheduled starter for the 'Birds.
