FC Dallas News Release
FRISCO, Texas (March 17, 2011) - Former Major League Soccer and FC Dallas player Bobby Rhine will again anchor the broadcast booth along with former teammate and color analyst Steve Jolley for FC Dallas regional broadcasts this season as games will air on FOX Sports Southwest, FOX Sports Southwest Plus, TXA21 and Galavision, while Carlos Alvarado returns to the radio broadcast booth to call all the action in Spanish on Univision Radio.
"FOX Sports Southwest continues to be a great partner for us and we're excited to join the TXA21 lineup that already includes the Dallas Mavericks, Dallas Stars and Texas Rangers," said FC Dallas President and CEO Doug Quinn. "As the sister station of CBS11, TXA21 gives even more people in the Metroplex the opportunity to watch FC Dallas games in high definition."
FOX Sports Southwest will carry 12 regular season regional broadcasts beginning with the season opener March 19 versus the Chicago Fire. FOX Sports Southwest Plus will air seven contests and TXA21 will air six, all in HD. Meanwhile Galavision will also broadcast four of the games in Spanish. The final seven regular-season games on the schedule will be added to the local broadcast lineup once programming has been cleared to make room for the telecasts. In addition, FOX Soccer has picked up two FC Dallas games this season for its national broadcast slate, carrying the April 1 contest at Columbus and the April 8 rematch from the 2010 MLS Cup versus Colorado.
In addition to its regional telecasts, the FC Dallas Spanish-language radio broadcast will air locally on Univision Radio KFLC 1270 AM "La Voz del Pueblo." Univision will air all games, along with a 30-minute pre- and post- game show. In addition to the games, Univision Radio will feature "The FC Dallas Show" every Monday from 5 to 6 p.m. CT and every Thursday from 4 to 6 p.m. CT. Veteran play-by-play announcer Alvarado, who has been the only Spanish voice in team history, will continue to call the games along with color commentator Rafael Calderon. Alvarado will also host "The FC Dallas Show", covering FC Dallas and related Major League Soccer news.
As the reigning Western Conference Champions, FC Dallas earned its first trip to the MLS Cup in 2010 following a record-setting year that saw the club set MLS marks for its 19-game unbeaten streak and its 12-game road unbeaten streak. The Dallas side also tied the MLS mark for fewest losses in an MLS season with four, while the Dallas defense allowed the fewest goals against in club history with only 28 through 30 games.
