Huntsville Havoc News Release

HUNTSVILLE, AL - Huntsville Havoc head coach Randy Murphy announced today that the team has traded the rights to forward Rob Sich to the Knoxville Ice Bears for cash considerations and has signed veteran center Paul Kelly.

Sich was acquired in a trade with the Fayetteville FireAntz on February 7th. He scored one goal and recorded three assists in six games with the Havoc, after scoring 26 goals and recording 22 assists in 38 games with the FireAntz.

"Moving Rob was not what I ultimately wanted to do, but we had an opportunity to upgrade in the center position and we have lacked depth in that position all year," Murphy said. "The veteran rule was definitely a factor in this trade. Paul Kelly will give us three legitimate centerman who can win draws at any time, in any zone and against any centerman in the league. He also provides veteran leadership and an added element of poise on our power play, which has been improving, but can always use more improvement."

Kelly (6-2, 230) has played in 340 career games in the ECHL and CHL. The West Peabody, Massachusetts native has scored 104 career regular season goals and added 113 assists. He has scored 13 goals and recorded 13 assists in 35 career playoff games. He played two seasons of college hockey at SUNY-Plattsburg in 2003-04 and 2004-05 where he scored 34 goals and recorded 29 assists in 57 games. He also played in 40 games at Boston College in the 1999-00, scoring three goals and adding two assists.

The Havoc also re-signed defenseman Gentry Zollars after Adam Knopp was called up to Evansville of the CHL on Sunday. Zollars has played five games for the Havoc and recorded two assists. He also played in 27 games for the Louisiana Ice Gators earlier this season and recorded five assists.

The Havoc will host the Knoxville Ice Bears on Breland Homes Ice at the Von Braun Center Thursday night at 7:30 and will host the Augusta RiverHawks on Saturday night at 7:30.
