Knoxville Ice Bears News Release

Knoxville, TN - The Knoxville Ice Bears have acquired forward Rob Sich for cash from the Huntsville Havoc, it was announced by President and General Manager Mike Murray.

Rob Sich, is the all-time leading goal scorer in SPHL history, with 234 goals in 300 games played. Sich is currently second overall in points at 434, trailing only Knoxville Ice Bears Director of Hockey Operations, Kevin Swider. The 6 foot, 190-pound sniper heads to Knoxville after playing six games with the Huntsville Havoc and 38 with the Fayetteville FireAntz. Sich is currently 8th in SPHL scoring for the 2010-11 season with 27 goals and 25 assists for 52 points in 44 games and his 27 goals tie him with Emery Olauson for the Ice Bears team lead.

A native of LaSalle, Ontario, Canada, Sich established career highs offensively last season with 63 goals and 98 points for second overall in the SPHL scoring race.

"We're extremely excited to be able to add a player of this magnitude at this point in our season," said Ice Bear's Head Coach Mike Craigen. "Sichy's stats speak for themselves as he has been the premier goal scorer in this league since he joined it."

Prior to signing with the Ice Bears, Sich played for three other SPHL teams - the defunct Florida Seals (2005-07), Fayetteville FireAntz (2007-11) and six games with the Huntsville Havoc this season. Before heading to the SPHL, he had eight games with two teams in UHL and during the 2007-08 season 11 games with the Pensacola Ice Pilots of the ECHL.

"With all our bad news lately in terms of injuries and losing 2 all star caliber players like Mark Van Vliet and Emery Olauson, it's nice to be able to announce some good news moving forward," said Craigen. "We're a team battling for a playoff spot and battling to score goals, so to be able to add a guy who knows a lot about both the playoffs and about scoring goals is huge for us."

Sich will make his debut tomorrow night vs. the Huntsville Havoc at 7:30 CST as the Ice Bear's begin another 3 games in 3 nights road swing visiting Huntsville and then Mississippi.

All road games will available through AmericaOne.com for full video steamcast and also available through ESPN Radio 1180 am and www.espnradioknoxville.com.
