Pensacola Ice Flyers News Release

Pensacola, FL- The Pensacola Ice Flyers lose to the Mississippi Surge Thursday night in The Hangar. With the loss, the Ice Flyers and the Surge now share first place in the SPHL.

The Ice Flyers hard fought battle to remain in sole possession of first place fell short on Thursday. The Ice Flyers however did not go down without a fight, literally. There would be five fights throughout the match and 75 total minutes on 20 offenses in this ever increasing grudge match. Though it was a gritty and tough performance Mississippi ended up joining Pensacola atop the standings. Dan Earles would end the night stopping all 23 of Pensacola's shots while Ryan Scott ended the night saving 35 of 39. Pensacola would go 0-3 on power plays while Mississippi would score on 2 of their 6.

Pensacola hits the road tomorrow to play the Louisiana IceGators. The Pensacola Ice Flyers return to The Hangar to take on Mississippi again on February 4th hoping to avenge tonight's loss. February 4th will be the Annual Teddy Bear Toss benefiting Sacred Heart Children's Hospital and feature our Super Fan Contest.
