MEMPHIS, TN - With only four and a half months until the start of baseball season, the Memphis Redbirds are pleased to announce their home schedule for the 2011 Pacific Coast League season. Season tickets, mini-plans and holiday packs are currently available for purchase.
The team will begin their season Thursday, April 7, at 7:05 p.m. at AutoZone Park when it hosts a four-game series against the Oklahoma City RedHawks (Triple-A Affiliate of the Houston Astros) in a rematch of the 2010 PCL American Conference Championship.
The 72-game home schedule includes 11 day games, Independence Day weekend July 2-3, Memorial Day (May 30), Labor Day (September 5) and two series showdowns against the 'Birds cross-state rival, the Nashville Sounds, June 17-20 and September 2-5 to close out the regular season. Memphis hosts the Fresno Grizzlies (Triple-A Affiliate to the World Series Champion San Francisco Giants) May 14-17 and welcomes the new PCL club out of Tucson (Triple-A Affiliate of the San Diego Padres) August 12-15.
New to this year, all Sunday games after May 15 will start at 6:05 p.m. to ensure a cooler and more comfortable atmosphere for fans. A full home schedule is attached.
AutoZone Park will also host three Memphis Tigers games as they go up against the Arkansas Razorbacks March 23, Ole Miss Rebels April 5 and Mississippi State Bulldogs May 17.
