Memphis Redbirds News Release

MEMPHIS, TN - There are more than 16,000 runners and walkers participating in four different St. Jude Memphis Marathon Weekend races this Saturday and each of them will complete the event at AutoZone Park. The gates open at 6:30a.m. for participant and spectator access, including the Monroe entrance. Viewers will also be permitted on the Bluff to watch as the race finishes on the warning track of the baseball field.

Two Memphis Redbirds employees are participating in the half marathon, Graphic Designer Allison Rhoades and Corporate Sales Coordinator Leigh Eisenberg. Training and preparing for the race has been a journey, but also a rewarding and gratifying experience for both runners.

"I'm excited to participate in this race." Eisenberg explained, "I have heard such remarkable things about the St. Jude Memphis Marathon with the spirit squads, the course layout and all the fun that is included. Being able to cross over the finish line right here at AutoZone Park is wonderful. I just hope I'm ready!"

Along with proud employees running the race, General Manager Ben Weiss is thrilled to have the marathon located here in the ballpark.

"We are very proud to host the St. Jude Memphis Marathon Weekend here at AutoZone Park. Not only does it support a great cause, but it is a great opportunity for us to showcase our stadium to all the first time visitors that are in town for this special event. In addition, the races are a great annual reminder to the community that we are more than a baseball park, AutoZone Park is a 365 day a year multi-use venue," said Weiss.

Rockey will also be in attendance at the races, cheering on participants and welcoming spectators. Everyone is encouraged to join us at AutoZone Park in support of the St. Jude Memphis Marathon Weekend, Saturday December 4th. Enjoy the weekend in Downtown Memphis and assist in spreading awareness about St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Party in the AZP

As mentioned, AutoZone Park is more than a baseball park, an array of events take place here every week. In the upcoming months we are preparing for several holiday parties, the Memphis Teacher Residency banquet and the first team dinner for the AutoZone Liberty Bowl teams. We also offer several options for meeting spaces, with choices of set up and catering that overlook the beautiful view of our ballpark.

Weddings, receptions, luncheons, seminars and conferences are just a few more examples of the assorted events that go on at AutoZone Park. The spaces are offered all year round, including a 'Meet and Suite' package that allows you and your colleagues to extend your meeting at the ballpark and join us for a Memphis Redbirds game!
