Paddock Makes Adirondack Debut in 5-1 Loss

The Adirondack Phantoms struck first but the Toronto Marlies stormed back with five of their own as the Phantoms dropped a 5-1 decision in the debut of interim Head Coach John Paddock. It was the first of a three game homestand for Adirondack. Paddock accepted the coaching reigns on Monday of this week and this was the first game at the Adirondack bench for the AHL Hall of Famer with five Calder Cups and 734 total wins in the AHL and NHL combined.

Jussi Rynnas turned aside 26 of Adirondack 27 shots as the Marlies extended their unbeaten-in-regulation streak to six games (4-0-2).

Stefan Legein's second of the year gave the Phantoms the initial 1-0 lead in the first period after he picked up his own rebound off goalie Jussi Rynnas between the circles and fired it home.

Mike Zigomanis, Alex Foster, Justin Hodgman, Joey Crabb and Greg Scott all lit the lamp for the Marlies attack.

The Phantoms created chances and looked like they much of the momentum particularly throughout the second period but it was Toronto who came away with a 3-1 lead.

The game also featured the return of RPI product Jerry D'Amigo to the North Country. D'Amigo had an assist in the game.

Johan Backlund took the losing decision for the Phantoms.

Adirondack outshot Toronto 27-21. The Phantoms were 0-for-7 on the power play while Toronto was 1 for 5.

The homestand continues for the Phantoms Friday night against the Norfolk Admirals at 7:30 on Faith and Family night. The Saturday, November 13 game will feature Phantoms Mini-Sticks for the first 1,000 kids (age 14 and younger) courtesy of Hometown Chevrolet and also the 2nd Annual 9/11 Memorial Guns and Hoses game with local public safety representatives taking on the NYPD hockey team at 3pm.
