Royals Announce 2010-11 Game Night Promotion Schedule

September 16, 2010 - ECHL (ECHL) Reading Royals

Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL today announced the team's 2010-11 Promotional Schedule of Game Night Events and Special Giveaways. The Royals will celebrate the team's Tenth Anniversary Season with a schedule packed full of special events and giveaways, including many traditional fan favorites and several new contests and features. All thirty-six home games this season for the Royals will feature a special event, and the organization and its partners will present no fewer than twenty home games this year with giveaways or contests, including another exciting series of beer glass giveaways and contests to win trips to the NHL Winter Classic and hockey's Hall of Fame. The full 2010-11 Game Night Promotional Events and Special Giveaways calendar is set out below.

The promotional schedule kicks off with the Home Opener on Saturday, October 23 (7:05 pm) when the Royals face the Elmira Jackals at the Sovereign Center and the team has a spectacular party planned that will include a pre-game fireworks extravaganza courtesy of 1-800-GOT-JUNK. The Royals will also give away a 32-ounce "refillable" souvenir cup courtesy of Auto Spa of Wyomissing to the first 5000 fans in attendance. Fans will be able to bring that cup back to the Sovereign Center and use it at every Royals' home game this season to re-fill with their favorite non-alcoholic beverage at a special price. The promotional schedule concludes thirty-six regular season home games later when we celebrate our most important asset over the past ten years-our fans-on WAWA Fan Appreciation night.

In the second home game of the season, on Sunday, October 24 (5:05 pm), the first 5000 fans in attendance will need to clear a spot on their refrigerator for one of the all-time classic fan favorite giveaways-the Royals Tenth Anniversary Schedule Magnet-courtesy of Deibler Dental. Fans will receive another classic giveaway at the Royals' third home game-Saturday, November 13-when the team will celebrate "Faith and Family Night" presented by Auto Spa of Wyomissing and the first 2500 fans will receive a commemorative Tenth Anniversary T-Shirt courtesy of Metro Bank.

Other hotly anticipated giveaways this season include a brand new series of five special beer glasses for fans 21 years of age and older courtesy of Miller Lite, Molson, Yeungling Lager, Coors Light, and Labatt Blue. During this Tenth Anniversary Season Celebration fans will want to look back and savor some of the great players and moments that the team has had since arriving in Reading. To help in that regard, the Royals and Immix Wireless have put together a couple of card pack giveaways for two games this season (Friday, November 26; and Sunday, February 20) commemorating the top moments of our first decade and the "All-Decade" line-up for the Royals. Rieck's Printing will also put together another one of their special collector's edition trading card sets for giveaway on Sunday, March 6.

The Royals will don special jerseys that will be raffled or auctioned off on a couple of occasions this year, including opening night when the team will be decked out in Tenth Anniversary sweaters that will be raffled to fans over the course of the season. The Royals will "Turn-Back-the-Clock" while wearing another special jersey on Thursday, December 30 and, that night, Classic Harley-Davidson will give away a Tenth Anniversary Collector's Edition pin to the first 2000 fans in attendance. We're not sure that solid black shoes (or skates) and thick horned-rimmed glasses (ala Coach Joe Paterno) will be part of the 'get-up' on Saturday, January 29, but the Royals will honor the Penn State Nittany Lions with a special (and, of course, simple) dark blue and white jersey courtesy of the Penn State Alumni Association, Berks County Chapter in support of THON. In fact, those jerseys will be auctioned off to support THON and that organization's efforts to cure childhood cancer. The Royals will also seek to keep their 'perfect-in-pink' record in tact when the "Pink in the Rink" festivities presented by Sweet Street Desserts return to the Sovereign Center on Saturday, February 19, 2011, as the team does what it can to help in the continuing effort to cure breast cancer.

The Royals will also continue the tradition of some of fan-favorite (and fan-friendly) big ticket contests and giveaways starting with that potentially all-important ticket-for the PA Lottery-on Friday, November 19. On December 28, some lucky fan is going to be packing his or her bags, as the Royals will pay hotel and round-trip transportation for a jaunt to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where the winner will have a couple of tickets for the 2011 Winter Classic when the two biggest guns in hockey-Sidney Crosby of the Pittsburgh Penguins and Alexander Ovechkin of the Washington Capitals-go head-to-head on the 'frozen tundra' of Heinz Field. After the Royals game against the Wheeling Nailers on Saturday, March 5, some other lucky fan will be packing his or her bags for a trip to another swath of frozen tundra-this one in Toronto, Ontario, where the winner will visit Hockey's hallowed Hall of Fame and get a couple of tickets to watch the Toronto Maple Leafs take on the Philadelphia Flyers at Air Canada Centre courtesy of Harrisburg International Airport. And, of course, another fan could be packing a suitcase-this one full of cash-if he or she were to win the million dollar payout from the "St. Hattrick's Day" celebration on Saturday, March 12.

There will also be plenty of food and drink specials at the Sovereign Center this year including our "Wet Wednesdays" and "Thirsty Thursdays" when select draft beer will be just $2.00. Weeknight games will also be "Berks Packing Dollar Nights" when hot dogs, soda, popcorn and nachos are all just $1.00. Berks Packing will also help fans put some holiday cheer on their dining room table with the Holiday Ham Shoot at our Saturday matinee (1:05 pm) special game against the South Carolina Stingrays on December 11. Similarly, fans can satisfy their sweet-tooth by shooting to win a great dessert item courtesy of Sweet Street Desserts on "American Cancer Society Night" (Saturday, March 19) when we all get together to benefit the Relay for Life.

There will be plenty of fun for the kids this year at Royals' games. The youngsters (and not-so-youngsters) will need to get that throwing arm warmed-up for our annual joint effort with Toys for Tots to collect stuffed animals for children in need, as the Royals will host the "Teddy Bear Toss" on Saturday, December 11 (1:05 pm). The team will also hold another matinee game (1:05 pm) completely dedicated to our younger fans when the Royals face the Trenton Devils on "Kids Day" presented by CTCE Credit Union on the Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday (Monday, January 17). And kids of all ages will have all the wackiness they can handle on Saturday March 5, when we'll celebrate Slapshot's Tenth Birthday courtesy of The Miller Law Group.

The Royals will also honor important members of our community on several game nights this season, including local educators on "Teacher Appreciation Night" (Friday, January 28) courtesy of Bellco Federal Credit Union. The team will also salute members of local law enforcement on a couple of occasions this season, including "Law Enforcement Night" presented by the Berks County Sheriffs Department and Reading K9 Unit on Friday, December 3. The team also hosts the sixth version of "Battle of the Badges" on Sunday, February 27, when the respective hockey teams from the Reading Police Department and the Reading Fire Department face-off in their annual showdown prior to the Royals' game against the Gwinnett Gladiators.

The Royals current list of 2010-11 Game Night Promotional Events and Special Giveaways is set out below.
