Seattle Thunderbirds News Release
Kent -September 2, 2010 - The Seattle Thunderbirds are pleased to announce the winners of their Summer Photo Promotion.
"We were excited about the enthusiasm of our fans for submitting photos" said T-Birds Director of Public & Media Relations Ian Henry. "We received so many great photo submissions from fans that it was hard to pick the winners. All of the photos were great in their own unique way."
Starting on July 1 the T-Birds encouraged fans to send the team photos of them wearing T-Birds jerseys, hats and t-shirts during the summer. If fans were going on a summer vacation to a unique location, the organization encouraged fans to take a photo wearing T-Birds gear and send it to the team.
The T-Birds posted the photos submitted in five categories on their website and Facebook Fan page. Photos were taken in numerous foreign countries including Ireland, China, Mexico, Fiji and Italy and in unique locations like Grand Teton National Park, in Puget Sound, above ShoWare Center, on ferries and in the nation's capitol.
The five categories: Farthest From Kent, Most Unique, Most Submissions, Fan on an Island and Best of Washington.
The winner of each category won two tickets to the preseason game against the Portland Wintrhawks on September 18 at ShoWare Center at 7:05pm.
The winners are: Farthest From Kent - Queenie Kam and Joyce Chan with Cool Bird plush toy in Hong Kong.
Most Unique - Evan Foster flying a plane above ShoWare Center wearing a T-Birds blue jersey with a Cool Bird plush toy on the cockpit window.
Most Submissions - The Klem family of Kent with five photos submitted from their family vacation in British Columbia.
Fan On An Island - Tracy Savage in Dublin, Ireland, on the Ghostbus Tour with friends Danyele Wilson and Laura Lewis.
Best of Washington - Erik Hannon with a T-Birds Roll-A-Banna in Puget Sound near Redondo.
All photos submitted can be seen on the T-Birds website or on the team's Facebook Fan Page.
The T-Birds home opener is Saturday, September 25, against the Portland Winterhawks at ShoWare Center at 7:05 p.m. T-Birds legend Glen Goodall, the WHL career leaders in games played and goals scored, and his family will be recognized in a special pre-game ceremony.
