
Americans Sign Trio of Prospects

KENNEWICK, WA - Tri-City Americans' Governor/General Manager Bob Tory announced today that the team has signed 16-year-olds Justin Hamonic, Dylan Fluter and Gage Rapitta to standard WHL Players Contracts.
Hamonic (pro. Ham-in-ick), a 6'2 190 lb. defenseman from Winnipeg, MB, was a 5th Round (102nd overall) pick by Tri-City in the 2009 Bantam Draft and spent last season with the Winnipeg Monarchs AAA Midgets. Hamonic appeared in 34 games for the Monarchs, totaling six goals, 21 points and 54 penalty minutes. The Monarchs finished 4th in the Winnipeg AAA Midget standings, compiling a 22-13-0-1 record.
Fluter (pro. Flu-ter), another 2009 Tri-City draft pick (8th, 173rd), spent the 2009-10 season with the Battlefords Stars of the Saskatchewan Midget AAA league. The 5'11 170 lb. Saskatoon, SK-native appeared in 43 games for the Stars, collecting 10 goals, 25 points and 43 penalty minutes.
Rapitta (pro. Ra-pee-ta) was a late addition to the Americans' protected list, earning his way into a slot after a strong performance in the Americans' rookie camp last week. The 5'11 190 lb. forward from Regina, SK played in 43 games for the Yorkton Harvest of the Saskatchewan Midget AAA league, registering six goals, 15 points and 56 penalty minutes.
"We are pleased to add 3 exciting players to our program," said Tory. "All three had tremendous rookie and main camps and all will play in the Everett Tournament this weekend."
The Americans pre-season schedule kicks off this weekend, as they head to the Everett Silvertips Pre-Season Classic, presented by Holiday Inn - Downtown Everett. Tri-City's first of three tournament games is set for Friday, September 3 against the rival Spokane Chiefs at 3:00 p.m. The Americans will then prepare to take on the host Silvertips on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. Then, on Sunday, Tri-City will face-off against the Ontario Hockey League's Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds at 3:00 p.m. All games take place at Comcast Arena in Everett.
