Calgary Stampeders News Release

The Calgary Stampeders are pleased to announce that receiver Ken-Yon Rambo and running back Jon Cornish have been honoured by the Canadian Football League for their performances in Week 9. Rambo has been named the CFL's offensive player of the week while Cornish earns the Canadian player of the week nod.

Rambo led all Stamps receivers with nine catches for 108 yards and two touchdowns in Friday's win over the BC Lions at Vancouver's Empire Field. The start of Rambo's 2010 season was delayed as he completed his recovery from a 2009 injury but he has come back strong with 21 catches for 326 yards and four touchdowns in just four games.

Cornish rushed the ball six times for 70 yards and caught two passes for 34 yards in the win over BC. His performance included his third rushing play this season for at least 50 yards. For the year, Cornish has 274 rushing yards on 31 carries (for an 8.8-yard-per-carry average that leads all CFL players with at least 20 rushes) as well as five catches for 73 yards.

Cornish was also named top Canadian in Week 4 of the current season. Calgary's only other recognition in the weekly honours also came in Week 4 as receiver Romby Bryant was named top offensive player.

The Stampeders received player-of-the-week recognition on seven occasions in 2009.

The next game for the Stamps is the ENMAX Labour Day Classic on Monday, Sept. 6 against the Edmonton Eskimos. Kickoff is at 4 p.m. and tickets are still available by contacting the Stampeders' Ticket Office (403-289-0258 or toll free at 1-800-667-3267), Ticketmaster (403-777-0000 or online at Ticketmaster.ca) or by visiting any local Safeway or Sport Chek location.
