Everett AquaSox News Release
EVERETT, Wash. - The special appearance by former Mariners catcher Dan Wilson that was originally scheduled for last Sunday has been rescheduled for this Saturday, Aug. 28. The Sox will host the Eugene Emeralds at 7:05 p.m. at Everett Memorial Stadium.
Wilson was originally scheduled to appear Sunday but the 2:05 p.m. game was postponed due to rain. The M's legend is set to throw out the ceremonial first pitch Saturday and will be signing free autographs from 7:15 to 8:45 p.m. in the lower concourse area behind home plate.
The Cincinnati Reds traded Wilson to Seattle in 1993, where he spent the final 12 years of his 14-year MLB career. Known for his superb defensive ability, Wilson finished his career with a .995 fielding percentage and played in more games at catcher than any other player in Mariners history (1,237). He was also selected to the 1996 MLB All-Star Game.
Wilson hit a home run in his one game with the AquaSox in 2000. He retired from the Seattle Mariners in 2005 and has spent some time working with developing catchers in Spring Training, including 2009 first-round selection and current AquaSox Steven Baron.
Along with the Dan Wilson appearance, the first 1,000 fans to the park Saturday night will receive a free Ryan Rowland-Smith bobblehead, courtesy of Alfy's Pizza. For more information, please call (425) 258-3673 or visit www.aquasox.com.
