Spirit Well Represented at 2010 Ivan Hlinka Under 18 Tournament

(Saginaw, MI) Saginaw Spirit second year forward Vince Trocheck and prospect Alex Racino got an early jump on the coming season as key members of Team USA at the recently completed Ivan Hlinka Memorial Under 18 Tournament. Trocheck, a prospect for the 2011 NHL Draft, recorded one goal and two assists in the tournament while Racino chipped in with one goal and two assists. The Spirit will open the 2010-2011 season with their annual training camp next week, with players reporting on Wednesday, September 1.

Team USA finished the event with a 3-1-0-1 record, their best result since 2006, and a berth in the final against Canada after a win over Team Sweden in the Semi Finals. The Americans had to settle for a Silver Medal for the seventh time since the tournament's inception after falling to Team Canada 1-0 in the Final. The Canadians recorded the only goal of the game 1:42 into the first period and goaltender Tyson Teichmann of the OHL's Belleville Bulls held Team USA off the scoresheet the rest of the way.

Saginaw Spirit individual game tickets will go on sale to the general public Monday, August 23. The puck drops on the 2010-2011 season with the Spirit hosting their Home Opening Celebration on Thursday September 30 against the Sudbury Wolves and Saturday October 2 against the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds. Both games start at 7:11 PM at The Dow Event Center of Saginaw.

The Spirit will also put tickets for their two home exhibition games on sale Monday, August 23. The Spirit play the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds on Saturday, September 11 at The Dow Event Center at 7:11 PM and the Sarnia Sting on Saturday, September 18 at The Saginaw Bay Ice Arena at 4:00 PM. Tickets for both games are $7.00 each.
