LAKEWOOD, NJ - Bobby Bundy threw the Shorebirds first complete game of the season, as Delmarva beat Lakewood 4-2 Monday night in the last of a five-game series.

Bundy (3-5) needed just 89 pitches to get through all nine innings, giving up two runs on five hits. He also struck out five.

Delmarva (20-30) drew first blood in the first. TJ Baxter started the game with a base hit, reached third on an error pickoff throw to second by catcher Sebastian Valle, and scored on a Ty Kelly sac-fly to put the Birds on the board.

Baxter, a Point Pleasant native, went 4-for-5 on the night with a stolen base.

Lakewood (30-19) collected three of their five hits and scored their only two runs in the fifth. Michael Dabbs singled with one out, advanced to second on a wild pitch, and came home on a Stephen Batts RBI single to extend Batts' hit streak to 11 games. Keoni Ruth then singled in Batts to put the Claws up 2-1.

Delmarva answered right back in the sixth. Gary Helmick hit a lead-off base hit, stole second, and scored on a one-out Kieron Pope double to tie the game. Mike Flacco followed with an RBI single to chase starter Jonathan Pettibone and put the Shorebirds up 3-2.

Pettibone (5-6) let up three runs (two earned) on eight hits in 5 1/3 innings.

Delmarva added an insurance run on a mental miscue by the BlueClaws. With two outs and Flacco on first, Mikey Planeta hit a flyball to deep right center field. Anthony Hewitt and Jiwan James collided trying to get to it allowing the ball to drop and score Flacco for a 4-2 Bird lead.

Tuesday night at 7:05 pm the BlueClaws will start a four-game series with the Greensboro Grasshoppers. RHP Brody Colvin (6-7, 3.17) goes up against LHP Edgar Olmos (3-6, 4.01).
