HICKORY, N.C. - Three RiverDog pitchers combined on a three-hit shutout, and the offense opened up the game up with a four-run seventh in a 5-0 whitewashing of Hickory in South Atlantic League action at L.P. Frans Stadium Monday night.

With the win, Charleston wins four straight games for the second time this half in improving to 26-24, 57-62 overall, while Hickory drops four in a row for the first time this season and sits at 26-22, 66-52 overall. The shutout is the first for the Crawdads since April 19.

Mike Solbach (3-4) enjoyed his best start of the season in 5.0 scoreless frames, permitting just three hits, while walking one and sinking a pair. Ryan Acosta pitched 2.0 hitless innings, while Ryan Flannery did the same, as the RiverDogs retired the final 17 Hickory batters in penning the shutout.

A 0-0 tie lasted until the fifth inning, when Emerson Landoni led off by slapping his fourth double of the series against Hickory starter Jake Brigham, and he then scored on DeAngelo Mack's RBI single for a 1-0 advantage.

In the seventh, the RiverDogs loaded the bases without getting a base hit and ended up scoring four times to put the game out of reach. Luke Murton was hit by a pitch, Neil Medchill walked, and Kelvin Castro reached on an error. With two outs, Slade Heathcott was hit by another Brigham offering to force in Murton for a 2-0 lead. Mack followed by sneaking a two-run single into right field, upping the score to 4-0, while Heathcott came home on a wild pitch from reliever Johan Yan for a 5-0 count.

Brigham (3-4), who tossed a complete game, two-hitter in his last outing with a career-high 12 strikeouts, worked 6.2 innings, allowing five runs - one earned - on only four hits, with three walks and eight strikeouts.

Charleston needed only five base hits to score five times, with two each coming from Landoni and Mack, while Mack added three RBI for the first time since July 28.

Charleston returns to Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park Tuesday to begin a four-game series against the Rome Braves, an Atlanta Braves affiliate. Game one's 7:05 p.m. scheduled first pitch features RiverDogs right-hander Sean Black (6-8, 4.08 ERA) facing Rome right-hander Robinson Lopez (3-7, 4.28 ERA).
