Calgary Hitmen Release 2010-11 Regular Season Schedule

Calgary, AB - The Calgary Hitmen today released their 2010-11 Western Hockey League regular season schedule. The Hitmen will open their 16th season at home on Friday, September 24th against the Lethbridge Hurricanes.

During the Calgary Real Estate News Home Opener, four championship banners from the 2009-10 season will be raised to the rafters, including one as 2010 Ed Chynoweth Cup Champions.

Of the 36 Hitmen home games, 25 will be played on weekends or holidays with 10 on Fridays, six on Saturdays, seven on Sundays along with a game on Remembrance Day and Family Day.

The Kootenay Ice will be the biggest Central Division rival of the Hitmen with eight meetings between the two. Calgary will face their other division rivals Edmonton, Lethbridge, Medicine Hat and Red Deer six times each.

This year's schedule also features a season high six game home stand starting in late October. The longest road trip is seven games starting January 1st with stops in both Alberta and Saskatchewan. There is also a five game road tip to the United States in mid October.

Hitmen home games (Monday-Saturday) start at 7 p.m. in the Saddledome while Sunday games are either 2 p.m. or 5 p.m. starts. There are two exceptions; Remembrance Day Game Thursday, November 11th against Kootenay at 5:00 p.m. and the outdoor game at McMahon Stadium on Family Day Monday, February 21st against the Regina Pats tentatively scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
